Devotions
Mrs R Mlambo opened with devotions.
Introductions and Remarks
Shava N introduced all members and gave a brief account of the purpose of the Alumni and its position at the moment. He outlined a few donations that have been made by the Alumni. The Alumni is not there to take over from SDC but only to assist the school especially on cleanliness and students achievements.
Cleaning of Hostels – competitive have since started competitions but there are no prizes
Challenges: Lack of tools like rakes, slashers, gloves, hard brooms and detergents (toilet dip and pine gel) Challenge of water to the boys hostels. Need an overhaul of the water system – Most toilets are not working boys hostels receive raw water from the river. There is need to acquire Jojo tanks 10 000 litres one for the boys and one for the girls so that they all get clean borehole water. The inspection team of cleaning is gender biased towards the males. This needs to be addressed as females have a better eye on dirty. The school authorities were advised to work hand in hand with the Musume Health authorities. Musume High School is maintaining 27 Hearing Impairment and Visual impairment children including the matron. –The school feeds these children and salary of the matron. Their welfare used to be catered for by the responsible authority but now the responsible authority is now not doing anything. Teachers should be aligned with the ELCZ requirements. There is a lot of indiscipline on the side of the teachers. The responsible authority needs to take responsibility of the issues that bedevil the school.
Prize giving day: –proposed date 5 or 12 October 2018.
Guest of Honour: Dr S. D Hove-Musekwa 1976 Head girl. The head suggested that if it were possible the alumni could be formally launched on the day. The Musume community is a difficult community. There are too many squabbles – kukonana kwakawandisa. They need prayers so that we share the same vision. The meeting ended with devotions from Rev C Shumba.
